Youth Day Event

In the capacity of Volunteer Coordinator, Mr. Shannon Park, at the Caura Valley Skills Development Centre, he led a group of twenty-five (25) children and five (5) parents to the Youth Day event held at Constantine Park Macoya on Saturday, November 25, 2023. This event, organized as part of Tunapuna Week 2023 by the Tunapuna Piarco Regional Corporation, highlighted the vibrant community spirit.

The children explored various Ministry and Corporate Booths at the event, engaging with organizations such as the Ministry of Youth Development and National Service (MYDNS), the Environmental Management Authority (EMA), National Entrepreneurial Development Company (NEDCO), National Maintenance Training (MTS), the Unit Trust Unit (UTC), the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC), and the Military Led Academic Programme (MILAT). Notably, they received insightful information from the Office of the Prime Minister - Gender and Child Affairs, which educated them on the UNICEF Rights of a Child.

A visit to the Ministry of Sport and Community Development provided the children with valuable insights into different sporting opportunities. Additionally, they enjoyed various perks, including branded corporate memorabilia items, complimentary haircuts, and delicious foods like Doubles and Snow Cones.

The day culminated in a friendly football match at the Constantine Grounds, adjacent to the event, where the children from Caura Valley faced off against their peers from the neighboring community of Wharf Trace. Special thanks go to Mr. David Satnarine, President of Maracas St Joseph, for escorting the eight (8) children from Wharf Trace to the Constantine Grounds for the football match. Gratitude is also extended to Mr. Steve Youk See of Caura Valley for generously covering the transportation expenses from Caura Valley to the venue.
